Faith! Family! Farm!
Our journey began in 2018 with a vision of creating a self-sustaining retirement on our land. Our childhoods growing up in urban/suburban settings, happily spent weekends and "stay-cations" clearing land, planting fruit trees, and blueberry bushes. However, fate took a drastic turn in September 2020 when James, the brains and brawn behind the dream, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Selling our primary home and embracing faith, became our anchors amidst the turmoil. Despite the challenges of treatment, James never wavered in his faith and continued to nurture our farm with unwavering determination, with more trees, berries, and our hens (or as I like to call them, "the ladies").
By February 2022, the cancer had progressed, exhausting all conventional treatments. We were sent home with a (then) recently FDA-approved oral medication, leaning into our faith, farm and church family more than ever before.
Despite all odds, in July 2022, our miracle came in the form of his pet scan results: No cancer seen. Lesions Healing.
And Praise Jesus! Results of the latest scan Apr 23, 2024 remission continues.
With the recent addition of Idaho Pasture Pigs to our farm, we embark on a new chapter filled with hope and anticipation, with plans for future endeavors yet to unfold. Stay tuned for updates, including the prospect of piglets for sale one day.
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. - Jeremiah 29:11
